What happened was that progressives were offered the whip hand, and if the cost of getting the whip hand was acquiescence to forever wars, then they were fine with that.
Path to peace? Stop competing which fosters and engenders vanity, secrecy, coercion, corruption, anxiety, despair and chance. How is this done? Open knowledge and consensus using evidence based science is how. This is literally the whole turnkey solution. The basis is ensconced in the ideas of competitive self determination vs cooperative self determination which are capitalism and socialism ideologies respectively but we choose to move past that terminology due to irregularities in popular perception.
Why are you unable to call the Russian invasion what it is: an invasion? You keep using terms like "proxy war" as if there was conspiracy to attack Russia. A reminder: on 2022-02-24 Russia INVADED Ukraine. Ukraine DID NOT attack Russia. Ukraine isn't interested in Russia's territory. Ukraine isn't making nuclear threats, Russia is. Ukraine wants to be left alone. I don't describe myself as a progressive, but the follow-up question you could look into after your headline is: Why are self-described "independent thinkers" parroting Russian talking points?

The sell out the working class and the poor and all they care about is keeping corporations and financial industries happy. They are not the friend of most citizens. They are frauds and it is gross.
